Welcome to Cal Poly Focus the Nation!

On January 31st, 2008 Cal Poly will participate in the largest teach-in in America's history, Focus the Nation: Global Warming Solutions for America. This will be one of more than 1450 such events taking place at college campuses all over the country involving thousands of presenters and millions of students.

This day-long teach-in will be featuring presentations and panel discussions from a wide range of perspectives on climate change solutions including physics, biology, architecture, engineering, agriculture, business, economics, psychology and religious studies. The event will conclude with a non-partisan examination of the 2008 Presidential candidates' plans for solutions to climate change as well as students engaging with local, state, and federal representatives. Keynote speakers to include Congresswoman Lois Capps (via live webcast) and State Assemblyman Sam Blakslee.

All events are open to the public free of charge!

In addition to these presentations, regularly scheduled classes will be incorporating assignments, lectures and discussions of climate change and global warming solutions from the perspectives of their particular disciplines.  Suggested curricular resources for instructors are provided here.
